March 13, 1938 Nazi Germany completed its annexation of Austria. Austria is the first country to be seized by Hitler’s army.
September 3, 1939 After Germany attacked Poland, Britain and France declare war on Germany. April 9, 1940 Germany invades Norway and Denmark. May 10, 1940 Germany launches an invasion of Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and France. In a few weeks, all surrendered except France. June 22, 1940 France signs surrender to Germany.

February 19, 1942 All Japanese-Americans were captured in the US and put into camps.
October 26, 1944 Japan's navy is defeated by the Allies in the Battle of Leyte Gulf near the Philippines.
February 4–11, 1945 President Roosevelt, Prime Minister Churchill, and Premier Stalin meet in Yalta on the Crimean Peninsula. During the Yalta Conference, the leaders discuss terms for Germany’s unconditional surrender, including postwar reparations, government, and borders. Additionally, the Soviet Union agrees to join the fighting against Japan in the Pacific, following Germany’s surrender. March 26, 1945 After a battle with the Japanese, Allied troops take the island of Iwo Jima. May 7, 1945 Germany surrenders to the Allies in Reims, France, ending World War II in Europe. August 6 and 9th, 1945 The United States drops an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and made the Japanese surrender.
September 2, 1945 Japan surrenders completely, World War 2 is over.
